- What is Mobile Music Academy?
- MMA is an award winning music lesson company that specializes in bringing high quality music instruction directly into the home. We teach all ages, styles, and levels of ability for a variety of instruments including: piano, guitar, voice, drums, violin, cello, viola, double bass, bass guitar, mandolin, flute, and saxophone.
- Where are you located?
- Our company headquarters is based in Nashville, TN however; we have certified instructors across Tennessee and Texas.
- Are you a referral service?
- Unlike a referral service where anyone can join, we are a music learning center with certified instructors that we personally contract with and are located across Middle TN and TX. All of our instructors are qualified teachers who have undergone interviews, reference checks, background checks (including criminal), and mandatory training before they are added to our teaching roster. When you take a lesson with us, you can be sure you are working with a safe and qualified instructor.
- Do you offer a free trial lesson?
- Mobile Music Academy does not offer a free trial lesson because when you take your first lesson, you are actually reserving an instructor's time that could be spent teaching another student.
- What kind of programs do you offer?
- In addition to our private instruction on a variety of instruments, we also offer a pre-instrument program for ages 4-6 called Music for Little Mozarts. This is a special piano program/curriculum designed for preschool age students. Other programs include: group classes for beginning violin and guitar, as well as, several daytime options for Homeschool Groups and students.
- Do you offer family discounts?
- Yes, contact us for more information..
- What is Music for Little Mozarts?
- Music for Little Mozarts is a special piano curriculum designed specifically for ages 4-6. Each lesson includes a story, singing, movement, games and of course piano. The lesson is specifically designed to keep your young child engaged in the lesson and hold their attention for as long as possible.
- What ages of students can enroll in lessons?
- Starting age can vary depending on the instrument as well as the child. Some instruments are just too big for a young child to hold. A good measuring stick is that the student at least knows their letters, right from left, and has the ability to sit still for a 30 minute lesson.
- Can I speak with the instructor before I book the lesson?
- Your instructor will contact you to schedule your lesson time. During that first call, your instructor will discuss what you are looking to accomplish through your lessons and will answer any questions about the lesson plan that you may have. MMA staff will be available to answer any other questions you may have about the instructor, lessons, scheduling, and billing.
- How do I know my instructor is safe and qualified?
- Every MMA instructor goes through a certification process prior to working with their first student. The certification includes: interviews, reference checks, criminal background checks and training sessions. We enforce this rigorous process so you can be assured you are working with a safe and qualified instructor.
- How far in advance do I need to schedule my first lesson?
- We require a minimum of 72 hours prior to the first lesson in order for the instructor to be able to prepare accordingly.
- Can I change the day, time, or duration of my lesson?
- Yes, you can change the details of your lessons anytime. Typically you can arrange this with your teacher or simply contact the MMA office and we will take care of it. Be sure that you give them at least a 48-hour notice prior to the lesson to avoid being charged for a missed lesson.
- What is your rescheduling policy?
- Lessons may be rescheduled if the instructor has an open spot in their schedule. Cancellations must be made before the day of the lesson. If a lesson is cancelled the day of the lesson, it will be charged.
- Am I required to take a certain number of lessons each month?
- We recommend that you take one lesson per week. However, we do give you the flexibility of learning at your own pace, so it is completely up to you how many lessons you would like to take each month.
- Do I need to have my own instrument in order to take a lesson?
- We suggest that you do have your own instrument. Practice is the main ingredient for success and there is no way to practice without your own instrument. If you need guidance on what type of instrument to buy please contact us.
- Do I need to practice?
- The short answer is YES! Studies show that the main difference between students who learn to play an instrument and those who don’t is Practice Time. Though innate ability helps, practice is the key to success as a musician. It will be common for students of all ages to go through times that they do not want to practice as much. The instructor will work with the student to help refocus them at these times. We suggest that you set a practice schedule that the student follows every week. This will build in the consistency that will lead to success. Some children may have to be told to practice, this is a normal part of the process. Some of the beginning stages of learning an instrument are not that exciting. Those who practice will quickly move through these stages quickly and be able to play more enjoyable songs earlier on than those who do not.
- How long until I see some results?
- You control your own results! Practice is the main ingredient for success. Remember, you want to learn to play an instrument and practice is simply playing with a purpose!
- Do you have recitals?
- Recitals are held periodically throughout the year. Some instruments take longer to study before it is appropriate to participate in a recital. Also, some areas may not have enough students to do a full recital. MMA will try and provide another avenue for that student to play if they so desire.
- What will I learn in the lessons?
- Each Instructor will evaluate the needs and goals of the student. They will then customize a lesson plan to meet those needs and goals.
- How often do students take lessons?
- To get the most out of your lessons, we recommend that you take one lesson per week. However, we do give you the flexibility of learning at your own pace, so it is completely up to you how many lessons you would like to take each month. Most students take weekly but we do have students that take every other week as well. We typically encourage children to take weekly lessons and adults to take bi-weekly lessons. You always have the option to change the frequency of your lessons as you go along.
