Meet Ms. Mads
Hi! I’m Ms. Mads, and I provide in-home violin and piano lessons with Mobile Music Academy, serving families in Brentwood, Franklin, and Nashville, TN. Music has always been a major part of my life. I took private piano lessons from ages 5 to 16 before shifting my full focus to violin, which I began playing at age 9.
As I grew, I became deeply involved in school string programs and eventually began teaching private lessons while still in high school. By my junior year, I knew I wanted to pursue music professionally. That decision led me to earn my Bachelor of Music from Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
I began teaching private in-home violin lessons locally in March 2024 and quickly built a roster of over 20 students. I graduated in May 2025 and continue teaching and freelancing as a musician in Nashville.
What I enjoy most about teaching is how it challenges me to think creatively. Every student is different, and helping them overcome obstacles and discover new approaches to learning is incredibly rewarding.
In-Home Violin Lessons with Ms. Mads in Brentwood, TN
What areas do you typically teach in?
I provide in-home violin lessons in Brentwood, Franklin, Berry Hill, East Nashville, and South Nashville. Students are typically more comfortable in a familiar space such as their home. I believe that comfort allows them to be more expressive and helps me better understand their individual needs. Building a natural and genuine relationship between student and teacher is one of the most important parts of private lessons.
What ages or skill levels do you most enjoy teaching?
I enjoy teaching a wide variety of ages and levels. Both beginner and advanced violin students are extremely rewarding to work with. Beginners are building something entirely new, while advanced students allow for deeper musical exploration and technical growth.
How would you describe your teaching style?
My teaching style is driven by each student’s individual needs. I focus on celebrating wins and treating challenges as opportunities to grow. I often ask guiding questions rather than simply giving answers so students can develop deeper understanding and retention.
What is most important when students first start violin?
Patience and persistence. Violin is a complex instrument, and progress can feel slow at first. Students who practice consistently and apply lesson strategies tend to break through that early learning curve much faster.
How do you help students stay motivated?
I celebrate even small wins enthusiastically. I also like to include a fun piece chosen by the student, whether it is from a movie, radio, or game, to balance fundamentals with something exciting.
Can you share a meaningful teaching moment?
I recently began teaching a student who had lost motivation after taking a break from violin. After just a few lessons, his mother shared that he was excited to practice again and talk about what he was learning. Seeing that renewed enthusiasm is incredibly rewarding.
